A Painter’s Progress

Although I loved art as a child and painted off and on through my 20s, I never had much training. I’ve had a long career as a medical and science writer and editor and have also played a lot of music (accordion) and written and published a lot of poetry. I’ve only recently returned to art and wonder why it’s taken me so long. I’m very much a beginner, but painting is currently my obsession. I’ve recently completed an intensive 12-week painting program and am involved in several other courses and online groups. For me, painting is all about joy. I’m working toward more expressive work, toward risk and vulnerability, toward letting each painting be a glimpse of my inner life.
